Lady and Gus, the notorious, murderous boxers owned by the Malloys (who lived about half a block from the Sauers), prepare to maim. "The Malloys vexed my dad by eating the manure he spread under our rose bushes," David says. "They also were suspects in the brutal murder of several of Cookie's kittens from one of her many litters ... After (the attack), my dad and a couple of other neighbors let the Malloys know their dogs needed to be fenced in and restrained."
